Hello! Just wanted to share with you some pictures of our beautiful walk along the River Colne today. The river goes through Colchester town (our town) and flows into the Ocean. We walked until Rowhedge, grab a pint at the Anchor Inn, a really nice and cosy pub, and came back. flying in the field Admiring the beautiful landscape! Looks like a painting doesn't it? Some people were curious to know how does fall looks like here in England. Quebec is such a beautiful place in fall. All the trees gets colourful and I certainly missed the Montreal crisps autumn days. The good thing here in the UK is that it doesn't get super depressing drastically in November. The grass is still very green, some roses are still out and most trees keep their leaves. It got cooler, but I guess it is nothing compared to the snowy Montreal I see on my friends Facebook pictures. Here is a little collage of the past week here in Colchester. Go and check out my October collage... I will try to make one every month... 1. one of our favorite pub in town.
2. swans having a swim at sunset at Bourne's mill 3. greenest green Castle park 4. my beautiful park where I go running 5. walking in the woods of Bourne mill 6. lovely house on our street 7. park#3... so many parks around our house 8. The rose that we planted is growing... 9. rose tree!!! Last weekend, the temperature was still pretty mild, so we decided to hop on our bikes and headed towards The jam factory in Tiptree, because...I mean... why not? The bike ride was idyllic. There was green fields all around us. We still have a hard time believing that we came from such a big city; Montreal to live in the english countryside. Great lunch at Tiptree tea room! After a great meal and after buying half of the jam shop, we jumped back on our bikes and in the middle of nowhere.... look at what we found ............. TADAAAAAAAMMMM! Isin't it the pinkiest pink house you have ever seen in your LIFE!!!!!!!!
It is a bed a breakfast and you can also rent the hole place for a group. Go and check out this link to see the inside of the house. Yes... you've guessed it it is as pink on the inside than the outside... Etienne's initiation to Guy Fawkes day :) We loooove fireworks, but they can be quite scary when your neighbor decide to lite some in his backyard and you feel as they are exploding in your own house... Glad the festivities are coming to an end...
Mersea island is a great little spot off the coast of Essex. You can find every type of house, from century-old crooked english houses to luxurious beach villas. When you arrive in town, witch is basically 3 shops and a cafe... you can find a great little delicatessen shop where you can pack your bag with fresh baked bread, cheese and olives. If you head East on the island towards East Mersea, you will find a stretch of rainbow-coloured beach huts that goes on forever. You will also find the Mersea island vineyard witch also host a microbrewery. The stroll on the beach from East Mersea to the marina is great! You can hear the seagulls squawking and watch the boats sailing across the shinning water. Just pass Monkey beach, you will see boats sunken in the grass in witch people made their home. The marina of West Mersea is the main hub of the island. You can find many pubs and seaside restaurants. Amongst them is the famous Company Shed where you get enormous seafood plates and where you can bring your own bread and wine. The Oyster bar is also great with its outside picnic tables facing the ocean. My favourite part of the island are the narrow streets at the end of the path where you can see the cutest little old houses with a marine touch. There is also a great view of the river going in the ocean. Etienne trying to straighten the house... A great way to end the day is to go for tea or beer at one of the pubs and watch the sun dropping down behind the sails of the docked boats. Good bye Mersea, see you soon! xx
