Expat life
Etienne and I have been travelling together since the age of 17. We like trying new experiences and get far from the familiar and comfortable routines of home. We always returned back home after a few adventurous weeks of travel and felt it was never enough. We have talked about travelling to its furthest extreme for a long time and move someplace to live. We had so many conversations about our top 5 places we would live and what we could do to make it happened. Like one of my favorite book says... After all, if one loves to travel, then isn’t living abroad a natural extension of that passion? Leaving our family and friends behind is a big step and we know that the feeling of loneliness will come once in a while. We are also aware that we will no longer be able to just relax and tell fart jokes with our new friends (at least for the first month...). Leaving everything behind to live as an expat is not the glorious thing you see in travellers blogs, but we are ready to face the reality for the experience and the challenges it will bring along. Nothing is too easy when you first move abroad. Normal things like finding an apartment, going for a run around your new neighbourhood (and getting lost of course) visiting all the different grocery shopping stores to compare prices (yes we did that), opening a bank account... are all an experience by itself. We have never felt so alive in the past months! We lived every second of our departure and arrival with the highest intensity. We are very excited to share with you all the shenanigans that our new life in England will bring. We also hope that we will be able to give good advices to people moving abroad, especially in England. So it's a start! Prêt pas prêt! On y va! |
