We have been in the UK for over 6 months now, so I think I can start blogging about funny differences there is between the 2 countries in our everyday lives as expats. One of the reasons for moving to another country was to experience different things we don't have back home, even if that means it can sometimes be frustrating... So let's embrace the journey! Parks and GREEN GREEN GREEN!The legend is true people. You don't know what the true color green is before visiting the UK! UK scores FlowersThe weather! We thought we were gonna die of depression because of the weather before coming to the UK, but we were pleasantly surprised! You can wear shoes every month of the year, there is flowers and leaves all year long and the lowest temperature since we have been here was -1C. It can be humid and the houses are less isolated, but I prefer that than being hibernating for 5 months a year and feeling like my nose will fall off every time I go outside! Also, the Essex coast is supposed to be the sunniest place in the UK! Lucky us! I walk to work every day and I have never been caught by rain in the last 3 months! They say that during summer, the sun can set at 10pm... 1 point for the winter in the UK, but nothing beats summer in Montreal! I will have to wait and see... -1 UK for not isolating their houses properly though... Living on the coast!Being in the oldest Roman townPaperwork and hierarchyThe amount of paperwork that is needed in England is out of this world. We have been here for 6 months and we are still in the process of having all of our paper sorted out! I will try my best in the Expat life section to give you all the information you need as a new expat in the UK because I feel there is not enough information about it on the net. Also, the hierarchy is very frustrating in this country. You always feel like a person needs to talk to another person and another for it to be a decision. It is definitely something Etienne and I have to adjust to coming from a country we feel people are more free to take their own decisions and trust in the good judgment of others. 3 points Canada Onesies!!!!!!!They sell onesies everywhere here and people actually wear them in the streets and at Uni! more to come...
